If the vehicle is equipped with ABS brakes, the system will be activated automatically when the brake pedal is pressed
The ABS does not necessarily reduce the stopping distance but because it prevents the wheel from locking, then the steering wheel can be controlled during an emergency. Reducing the pressure on the brake pedal will reduce the effectiveness of this system, so make sure that the stepping of the brake pedal along the braking is maintained
Although the ABS system can help to safely stop the vehicle. A driver should not use the advantage to drive dangerously. ABS should not violate the laws of physics. There is a possibility of one of the tires slipping or skidding due to :
- Tire grip on the road is not good
- Watery road surface
- Smooth road surface
ABS can only help drivers brake safely and effectively not to add tire grip to the road surface or avoid slippage. It doesn't eliminate the risk of slippage just reducing it.
